Interviewer: Dr Rav Singh Topper: Anjali
Dr Rav Singh: Moving to the GDPI stage: What was the main difference in the SCMHRD process, and how did Anjali approach it?
Anjali: The biggest difference is that it is a Group Exercise instead of a Group Discussion. My mindset was focused on collaboration and directing the conversation toward a solution-oriented approach, rather than fighting with my group members. This collaborative intent is what the panel is looking for.
Dr Rav Singh: What was your Group Exercise topic, and how did the filter system work?
Anjali: We were given a case study about whether some kind of high court should be allowed in the country. We were given five to six types of filters (political, economic, legal, etc.) and the group had to collaboratively come up with a solution that successfully passed through all those filters.
Dr Rav Singh: Did Anjali have any concern about the gap year in the interview?
Anjali: Yes. I had to address the gap year. My strategy was to be completely honest, put my normal self forward, and clearly articulate my vision. I had to show them where I see myself three years and five years down the line. That clear, honest plan for “why MBA” and my career worked.
Dr Rav Singh: What is the key difference between a Personal Interview (PI) and a Personal Interaction for SCMHRD?
Anjali: The Personal Interaction is meant to be less stressful. My goal was to show genuine interest. I focused on making the conversation flow naturally and demonstrating my ability to collaborate and think analytically, proving I was ready for the MBA program’s rigor.
Dr Rav Singh: Why is the Excel sheet you used for SNAP prep also a powerful tool for your interview?
Anjali: That Excel sheet showed my self-awareness—I knew my strengths and weaknesses under pressure. Being able to talk confidently about my weaknesses and how I actively improved them is a massive plus in the PI, as it shows resilience and a growth mindset.
Dr Rav Singh: What is the final takeaway on the SCMHRD GDPI?
Anjali: My final takeaway is that my intention during the entire process was to be a team player and put my normal, honest self forward. That solution-oriented, collaborative approach is exactly what SCMHRD is looking for.
