The 15 minutes WorkEx Interview: Focus on Strengths, Not Weakness

Interviewer: Dr Rav Singh
Topper: Prakshal (Finance Associate, SCMHRD Convert)

Dr Rav Singh: How was the SCMHRD interview experience for a candidate with work experience? Was it about your job or your college?

Prakshal: The best thing about the college is that they want you to be at your best. There is no stress interview; it is an interaction. The questions were holistic, starting with my hobbies and then moving into my professional life.

Dr Rav Singh: How did the panel integrate your personal interests into the PI?

Prakshal: My personal interests were essential. Since I am a football player, they started the conversation there—asking about my favorite player and my passion. This immediately relaxed me. They use these personal details to open up the conversation and make it less formal.

Dr Rav Singh: What were the core questions focused on your profile?

Prakshal: The questions focused on my background as a Finance Associate and my undergraduate subjects. They want to see the link between your past and your choice of MBA. It was a holistic review of my academics, my work-ex, and my extracurriculars.

Dr Rav Singh: How long did your interview last?

Prakshal: I guess my interview lasted around 15 to 17 minutes, and I never once felt that I was in an interview. It felt like an interaction, and the panel was even guiding me throughout, suggesting ways to upskill during my MBA journey, which validates the “interaction” philosophy.

Dr Rav Singh: What advice do you have for the Group Exercise (GE)?

Prakshal: Since it is a Group Exercise and not just a discussion, it is very important that the whole group must come to a common conclusion. You must give logical suggestions and solutions based on the case, and then try to minimize the conflict so the group can reach a conclusion. That’s very important.

Dr Rav Singh: You mentioned giving all three SNAP attempts. How did that help your PI confidence?

Prakshal: Knowing I had a high SNAP score (99.21%ile) and had gone through the mock analysis process gave me immense confidence. I could walk into the interview knowing I earned my spot, which allowed me to focus purely on the interaction and my soft skills.
